The Taronda mining settlement was an installation on the planet Taronda during the Clone Wars. As a provider of essential raw materials, the settlement came into conflict around 22 BBY[note 1] as a battle broke out between Galactic Republic forces intending to secure a trade deal and CIS forces attempting to block it.[1]
History[]
Circa 22 BBY,[note 1] the mining settlement was visited by a Republic delegation headed by Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, who hoped to secure a trade deal for raw materials. However, the negotiations were interrupted by a Separatist invasion force, who intended to block to the deal. The Republic forces retreated to a deflector shield, where they held their ground until a Venator-class Star Destroyer arrived to reinforce their position. The Separatist forces were then driven out.[1]
Areas[]
- "That crevice must lead into the mineshafts! The planet's riddled with them!"
- ―Anakin Skywalker
The settlement contained numerous areas with mining facilities, including mine-shafts located within mountainsides. Some of these were rather crude, and in a rush, one could accidentally fall into one.[note 2] Machinery and heavy equipment such as construction cranes and tubing could be found throughout. There was a central deflector shield generator as well, which provided protection against attack.[1]

Notes[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 This event was featured in the comic "Keep the Faith!". It is set before the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Heroes on Both Sides" (21–20 BBY), which marks the debut of revamped appearances for several main characters. Considering that the comics featured in Star Wars Comic UK are published in chronological order, and that "Burn the Behemoth!" is the first comic in the series to feature the new character models, it can be concluded that "Keep the Faith!", and thus the events of the story, take place sometime around 22 BBY.
- ↑ In "Keep the Faith!", Republic forces withdraw from the battlefield in a rush. Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano accidentally falls through a mine-shaft crevice during this retreat.
