Mapper, also known as Mapper Gann, was an Advanced Recon Commando that served in the Grand Army of the Republic's Special Operations Brigade.

Mapper was born in 32 BBY on the water planet of Kamino,[2] cloned from the genetic template of the infamous bounty hunter Jango Fett.[1] He received intensive training, as he was an Alpha-class Advanced Recon Commando. Eventually, he graduated and was deployed in the Grand Army of the Republic's Special Operations Brigade.

In 21.75 BBY, Mapper was deployed to the Battle of Pengalan IV. Republic Accountant Joram Kithe was deployed with them to evaluate the troopers' performances, unknowing of the ARCs' special position in the Brigade.[3] The ARCs were sent in to destroy a Separatist factory. However, upon arriving, the Separatist factory turned out to be a trap that forced them to retreat. In the process, their gunship was shot down and upon crashing, Mapper's leg was severely injured.[3]

His wounds would have slowed the other troopers down and Kithe, who was now in command of the unit, was told that Mapper might have to be put down. Kithe found that approach unacceptable and instead, they rigged an ambush for the incoming Separatist patrol that had been dispatched to locate any downed clones. After eliminating the Separatist patrol, they commandeered their air speeder, which allowed them to move their injured brother to the nearest village, Tur Lorkin. Mapper was then given his name due to working on the navigation for the squad.[3]

Mapper had the best infiltration skills of his unit, but with his splinted leg, this limited his ability to do so. While Kithe, Tooth, Spade, Hash, Digger, Spots, and Wrench infiltrated the factory, Mapper waited on a modified STAP outside, providing cover fire for their escape. Eventually, the survivors, consisting of Kithe, Mapper, Digger, Spots, and Wrench commandeered a starship and escaped the planet.[3]

Mapper's injuries that he sustained during the battle required time to heal, which kept him from the rest of his unit. However, in the meantime, he was assigned to serve alongside Kithe as a partner and bodyguard for their assignment into Republic Intelligence. Mapper would take the name of Mapper Gann and grew a beard and his hair out to pass as a non-clone. Following his complete recovery, the two were deployed to the planet of Tarhassan where Mapper was able to use his considerable skills to good use, and during which the two were placed alongside a handful of agents tasked with rescuing Edbit Teeks.[4]

Unfortunately, due to Kithe success as an accountant-turned-agent had spawned a new Republic program to duplicate his success. As a result, Kithe and Mapper were assigned to serve next to three bureaucrats - Commander Cherek Tuhm, Livintius Sazet, and Tinian Hanther - on the mission. Kithe had correct several blunders by the agents and even went as far as going behind Tuhm's back to keep a prisoner alive and get information on Teeks. Mapper, on the other hand, gained the others' respect, due to him serving well. This did not change his opinion of them all being complete idiots. Upon breaking Teeks out, he knocked Tuhm unconscious so he would not foul the mission up. Ultimately, Mapper and Kithe, with the assistance of Hanther, were able to complete their mission.[4]

Personality and Traits[]

Mapper was like all clones of Jango Fett, in that he had the same height of 1.83 meters, black hair, and brown eyes. However, during his days in Republic Intelligence, he grew out a beard to not appear to look like a clone.

Mapper, like all Alpha-class ARC troopers, was "pure Jango", as they were genetically unaltered, aside from their advanced aging.[5] He was very opinionated when it came to his superiors, especially if they were non-clones.[3][4] However, he was loyal as long as they did not interfere with the mission.[3][4]

Armor and Equipment[]

Mapper possessed the rank of ARC trooper, which meant he was likely a Lieutenant at the least, sporting Phase I clone trooper armor with blue streaks. He also would have possessed a pauldron and a Kama. His helmet would have also been outfitted with a rangefinder. He likely possessed a DC-15S blaster carbine, a DC-15A blaster rifle, DC-17 hand blasters, or a WESTAR-M5 blaster rifle.
