Maintenance duty clones were clone troopers assigned to manual labor tasks. The role allowed genetically defective clones, such as 99, to contribute to the Clone Wars despite being combat ineffective. However, if the troopers were deemed ineffective as a combat unit, they would be reassigned to maintenance.[1] Domino Squad were considered for reassignment to maintenance by Training Sergeant Bric due to their inability to communicate properly before passing their final test with ingenuity he had not previously witnessed.[1] 99 was stationed at Tipoca City, Kamino for the rest of his life before the Separatists attacked the planet.[2] Because of his knowledge of the facility, he was able to route Captain Rex and Marshal Commander Cody to the armory from the barracks with ease.[2]
