Kupe, born RC-1573, was a clone commando that served within the Grand Army of the Republic in its Special Operations Brigade. Kupe specifically served within Tark Squad, which was led by Captain Nilo.
History[]
Kupe was born on the water world of Kamino.[1] However, unlike most clones in the Grand Army of the Republic, Kupe was a clone of Sarsius Torne, a Thyrsian who had been a Sun Guard Mercenary in genetic terrorist Zeta Magnus' Empire.[2] Kupe received intensive training by Torne and received his nickname based on the Thyrsian letter for three. Kupe was assigned to Tark Squad, who were also Thyrsian clones. However, the four were cloned as a part of a deal between Darth Sidious and Zeta Magnus in an attempt to "recover" Jedi General Anakin Skywalker.[2] Due to this, Kupe and the rest of Tark Squad were implanted with a cybernetic control band to ensure obedience.[2]
In 21 BBY, Kupe and his squad were deployed to the planet of Skye, to assist Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi in liberating the planet from Zeta Magnus, disguised as a relief team. Kupe managed to win over both Skywalker and Jedi General Halagad Ventor, due to his curious fascination with the Jedi.[2] Kupe, Tark Squad, and the three Generals snuck into Zeta Magnus' fortress through Entrymion's subterranean tunnel system located beneath the fortress. While in the cave, the liberation team were attacked by multiple Oskan blood eaters created by Zeta Magnus, which killed many of their S'kytri guides as well as the Lord of the S'kytri Highland Clans, Lord Klarymére. The squad killed the blood eaters with a Class-D detonator, which angered Kenobi, as he believed it was an "affront to the Force". When the liberation team arrived in Magnus' fortress, the squad led their Jedi Generals into a field of R-TechApp Man Traps. Kupe and his squad revealed to the Jedi Generals that they were allied with Magnus and left them to be tortured by Magnus and his torture droid. However, the Jedi escaped. Kupe was killed when Skywalker used the Force to collapse a wall, which crushed him.[2]
Personality and Traits[]
Kupe's curious nature and fascination with his Jedi Generals earned their respect. Kupe, despite his deceptions, seemed to respect the Jedi. Kupe was not like other clones, who had been cloned from Jango Fett, as he was cloned by Sarsius Torne, who was not human. However, they shared the fact that they both had black hair. Kupe also had cybernetic implants, that forced him to be obedient.[2]
Armor and Equipment[]
Kupe, like all commandos, possessed Katarn-class commando armor, with a silver-coating. He also used a DC-17m Interchangeable Weapon System, with a special grappling spike launcher attachment. His armor also contained a vibroblade in the fists.[2] Kupe likely also possessed an assortment of grenades and a DC-15s side arm blaster.[3]
