Kano, born CS-1004, was a clone trooper sergeant within the 501st Legion, in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. He fought in the Battle of Ryloth, under the command of Captain Rex.

History[]

Kano was born in 32 BBY, cloned from the genetic template of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett, on the water planet of Kamino.[1][2] He went through basic training, eventually graduating, being assigned to serve into the 501st Legion. Upon the beginning of the Clone Wars, Kano was deployed with the rest of the Grand Army of the Republic. By 21 BBY, Kano served on numerous occasions on the battlefield. In 21 BBY, Kano performed numerous sweeps after the Battle of Ryloth, moving through villages to remove the Separatist battle droids left on the planet's surface. Kano stated that Republic Intel had reported the equivalent of a full battalion of droids remaining on the planet.[3] During one of these patrols, he was assigned a squad of rookie clones to help him with this task. He was not, however, happy about this, and called looking after the squad "baby sitting".[3]

During their sweep, Kano led the squad through the village and eventually came to reclaim a portion of Resdin, fighting through a company of droids in the process. Upon the end of their sweep, Kano and Rookie discovered that the droids had a cluster of droid outposts in the area, with Kano's men taking Outpost 2 out of commission. Kano called for reinforcements, with Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano coming to their aid. The Jedi and the squad worked through the outposts, taking down as many droids as possible. During the raid, Kano and his squad were bombed by Vulture droids, with Skywalker and Tano carrying on with the operation before returning to assist.[3] Tano called in a medic evacuation, with Kano expressing his pride in his squad, stating that they earned their battle scars. Kano led the squad to the evacuation, with Tano and Skywalker assisting. The group were attacked once more by Separatist forces in the plaza, waiting for the medevac. Once the skirmish ended, Kano assisting in loading the injured aboard the ship, a LAAT/i, before thanking the Jedi for their assistance. Kano boarded the LAAT/i and returned to base with the injured.[3]

Personality and Traits[]

"What're you waiting for, a medal? Move out!"
―Kano

Kano was cloned from the genetic template of Jango Fett, which gave him the height of 1.83 meters, black hair, and brown eyes.[1] Kano was a battle-hardened veteran of the Clone Wars, falling easily into his role as a Sergeant. When Kano was tasked with taking a squad of inexperienced clone troopers, which he referred to as shinies, he believed the task to be "baby sitting". However, once they had destroyed the cluster of droid outposts, he remarked that his men had earned their battle scars. Kano was a stoic individual, but was able to commend Jedi General Anakin Skywalker for helping him and his men.[3]
