Fifth Fleet of the Open Circle Fleet was a fleet of clone troopers that served in the Grand Army of the Republic's Republic Navy during the Clone Wars.
History[]
The Fifth Fleet was a fleet of clone troopers that served in the Grand Army of the Republic's naval division.[1] The unit was initially created in 32 BBY when the clones were commissioned.[2] The fleet was assigned to serve within the Open Circle Armada.[3]
In 19 BBY, the Fifth Fleet was deployed to serve at the Battle of Ringo Vinda, acting as naval support for the ground forces of the 501st Legion and Doom's unit.[4] Though the initial fight would result in a Republic retreat, the Fifth Fleet remained nearby, preparing for the next attack.[4] At some point, the fleet was reassigned.[1]
A few months later, at the Battle of Coruscant, the Fifth Fleet was deployed to the planet to defend it from the Separatist surprise attack.[1] The battle would be a Republic victory, despite the surprise attack.[1]
Armor and Equipment[]
The Fifth Fleet at the time of their deployment would have been equipped with Phase II clone trooper armor, as well as specialized clone trooper pilot armor. The fleet would also be equipped with ARC-170 starfighters and V-wing starfighters, which they utilized at the Battle of Ringo Vinda and the Battle of Coruscant.[1][4]
