Clone ordnance specialists, also known as the bomb squad,[1] were clone troopers who were trained in the defusing of various types of explosives. They were often sent in during raids to assist other troopers in potential bomb situations.

Ordnance specialists had one of the most dangerous tasks a trooper in the Grand Army of the Republic could be assigned. They worked to defuse multiple types of explosives with various equipment all the while under heavy fire from enemy forces. On some occasions the bombs would explode, and the troopers were severely injured as a result of it. Troopers who performed these dangerous jobs had steady nerves and a gentle touch, as well as an understanding of machinery.

The specialists were involved in many battles through out the war, but never saw much action besides disabling explosives.

Armor and Equipment[]

These troopers wore Phase I armor which was normally colored orange so that they could be easily spotted for immediate assistance. On their left shoulder a plate, a special emblem resembling a bomb was placed to designate them as troopers of the bomb squads. They carried DC-15A blaster rifles and DC-15S blaster carbines in addition to explosive sensors, ion probes and defusing tools.
