―Broadside
This is a Class 3 article.

Broadside was a clone trooper pilot in Shadow Squadron with the callsign Shadow Three. He was a very experienced pilot and fought in many space battles.

History[]

Mission to Secure Y-Wings[]

Broadside began his first mission in the Galactic Republic in 22 BBY, when he, alongside fellow Shadow Squadron member, Matchstick, were assigned by Chancellor Palpatine to escort Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and his apprentice, Ahsoka Tano, to capture a new class of starfighter for the GAR, the BTL-B Y-Wing bomber. Broadside and Matchstick were then sent to the planet Bormus and managed to capture the Y-wings and brought the new ships aboard Skywalker's Vector-Class Star Destroyer, Resolute, then prepared for Shadow Squadron's next mission, destroying a separatist superweapon called The Malevolence.[1]

Battle of the Kaliida Nebula[]

"Hey Broadside, if we survive this, drinks are on me."
―Matchstick, to Broadside

After gaining the new starfighters for the Republic, Broadside and the rest of Shadow Squadron were led by General Skywalker and Jedi Master Plo Koon to destroy a new Separatist battleship called the Malevolence, which had the cyborg General Grievous commanding it. Broadside and the other squad members got inside their Y-wings and flew into hyperspace to the Malevolence's next target, the Kaliida Shoals Medical Center. Shadow Squadron then started their assault on the massive cruiser, despite losing members Matchstick, Tag, Shadow Six, Seven, and Ten.[2] Broadside would be present when Anakin changed the battle plans and had Shadow Squadron bomb the Malevolence's ion cannon.[3] The mission ended with a success, and the Malevolence would eventually be destroyed later on in the fight.[4]

Third Battle of Kamino[]

"Good to see you, General, ready to have some fun?
You know me, Broadside, I'd rather be up here than stuck in a command center.
"
―Broadside and Anakin Skywalker

Despite losing Matchstick and many other members, Shadow Squadron stayed in action, with Broadside becoming the new leader. He led Shadow Squadron, alongside General Skywalker, to attack General Grievous's fleet of Separatist ships during his attack on Kamino. Broadside and Shadow Squadron destroyed and damaged many Separatist cruisers, but their attack was briefly halted when Anakin returned to Kamino to aid High Jedi General Obi-Wan-Kenobi in the real separatist attack on the surface with new Aqua Droid units. During that, Broadside continued to lead Shadow squadron in their space battle, until Kenobi and Skywalker chased Grievous and the sith assassin, Asajj Ventress, off Kamino, forcing the Separatist fleet to retreat.[5]
