"I'm so a sergeant, Private—" - ―Clone commando Fi and Barlex argue with each other
Barlex was a clone paratrooper sergeant who served in the Clone Wars. He was a clone of Jango Fett, and was part of the 2nd Airborne Company, a unit within the Grand Army of the Republic. Being a sergeant, he was the senior NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer) of Parjai Squad.[3]
History[]
In 21 BBY[3], the commandos of Omega Squad were assigned a mission to Gaftikar, the homeworld of both humans and a lizard-like species called the Marits. They were sent to help organize a rebellion for the Marits against the humans, and Null ARC trooper A'den Skirata was already there. They were first transported there on a Republic auxiliary ship called the Core Conveyor, which stationed the 2nd Airborne Company.[3]
In the ship, Barlex outfitted Omega Squad with the necessary equipment for an airborne release. He made a few comments about the commandos and their close relationships with Mandalorians, which started to rile up the squad. He said that the Mandalorians had killed ten of his men in the past, which explained why he had trouble with them.[3]
Also, while outfitting Omega Squad with jetpack wings, they were colored white, which clashed sharply with Omega Squad's black Katarn-class stealth commando armor. Fi Skirata made an irritated comment about this, but Barlex couldn't have cared less.[3]
Armor and Equipment[]
Barlex wore Phase II clone paratrooper gear with orange markings. He had a special paratrooper helmet, and his company had winged jetpacks, which he outfitted Omega Squad with.[3]
Personality and Traits[]
As a sergeant, Barlex was a no-nonsense leader and strict. He had a disdain for Mandalorians due to previous conflicts with them, which had resulted in casualties for his men. For this reason, his disliked having to work alongside clone commandos because of their close relationship with Mandalorian trainers, despite the fact that the nearly entire clone army as a whole had adopted Mandalorian traditions as their heritage.[3]
Out-of-Universe[]
Barlex was featured in Republic Commando: True Colors and later mentioned in Imperial Commando: 501st. Fans remembered him as the "Beehive" trooper.[4]
